One health worker in Masindi district has been confirmed dead of Crimean- Congo hemorrhagic fever.

The Ministry of Health Senior Spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyona says that Uganda Research Institute confirmed the samples of from the deceased as positive but experts insist the situation to be under control.

In January 2018, Crimean- Congo hemorrhagic and Rift Valley fevers were reported in the district of Nakaseke and Luwero but no deaths were reported.

However, much as the fist death has been confirmed, Ainebyona urges the public to avoid sleeping with the animals, getting contacts with the patients of the hemorrhagic fever and keep hygiene.

He re-emphasizes that the country is still free of Ebola outbreak and all teams of experts are on the ground ready to control the disease once it erupts.
