The institute of immaculate heart of Mariparatrix religious sisters of Kisubi Ggogonya in Kampala Archdiocese has clocked 71 years since its inception in 1948 by the late archbishop Joseph Luis Cabana and Bishop Streicher the white missionaries.

The institute holds its annual celebrations every January 4th where they receive newly professed religious sisters, perpetual professors and celebrate those have served for 25, 50, 60 or 75 years.

The celebrations of 2019 have seen Five newly professed, Three took perpetual vows, Four celebrated silver Jubilee, Two celebrated Golden Jubilee and only One Rev. Sr. Mary Gerald Babirye 82, from Nkoni parish in Masaka diocese celebrated 60 years of service in the institute.

The occasion graced by the Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, he reminded the religious to be mindful of materialism that is derailing the world.

Dr Lwanga said the world full of deceit, suffering and corruption directly impacts on the life of any religious; however a religious sister or brother must be wise and stand the challenges.

The Archbishop again reiterated his position against the introduction of sex education to children as young as 4 yours saying the intention is money driven without assessing the effects of the subject to children who are still ignorant and innocent.

He says the western world has gone astray because of such laws through things like children’s rights that have left the young generation totally unguided that is how homosexuality, abortions and inhuman treatment of a person have emerged.

He reached to the extent of rallying Ugandans to vote out members of parliament who betrayed the country insisting that they will not allow sex education to be taught in Catholic Schools.

The Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference Dr. Joseph Anthony Zziwa has acknowledged the contribution of catholic missionaries that has transformed societies and the country at large.

Meanwhile the Bishop of Masaka diocese Rt. Rev. John Baptist Kaggwa said Uganda has been educated, treated in terms of health from mission health centers among other contributions that have led to national development.

The mother general of the institute of the immaculate heart of maripatrix Ggogonya Rev. Sr. Anne Christine Kizza challenged the religious sisters to led by example.

The function was attended by priests, religious from other institutes, the faithful and Namasole of Buganda (mother of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II) Margaret Nagawa and his brother Emmanuel Sentongo.
