The Uganda Lottery and Gaming Board have been accused of extortion from operators.

This was after the Parliamentary Committee on Statutory Authority and State Enterprises-COSASE chaired by Nakawa West MP Joel Ssenyonyi received information that one official from the gaming board Deborah Kituyi asked for bribes to reopen once closed gaming centers.

The committee chairperson Ssenyonyi cited a case where Kituyi asked for a bribe of Sh50m from one gaming company Golden Tripled which was closed on allegations of operating beyond curfew hours during covers-19 error.

The same gaming board which has been led by the Chief Executive Officer Denis Mudene has been accused of illegally confiscating and destroying gaming machines of companies without first conducting due diligence.

It’s from this that the chairperson of the committee Ssenyonyi handed over the officials from the gaming board to the parliamentary Criminal Investigation Department for more interrogations especially since they lied against the oath they had taken.
