The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) faction leaders who are grappling with leadership of party President Patrick Amuriat and the Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, have distanced themselves from the ongoing internal elections.

In the just concluded chaotic National Council meeting, that was convened at the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi, the top leadership agreed that the Party structure elections should continue as planned despite calls from some party leaders to postpone the process.

While addressing the media in Kampala, the FDC faction leaders led by the party Spokesperson, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda and the Vice President for Central region, Erias Lukwago, described the ongoing elections as illegal selective exercise since the majority of party leaders are against them.

Semujju noted that the process has no electoral officials alleging that the ones who are acting in that position were selected by Mafabi which is against the party constitution.

He added that the elections are running without village and sub county voter registers, therefore demanding that the party electoral commission be disbanded and form a new one credible enough to conduct refresh elections that are not based on any one’s selfish interests.
