In preparations for the forthcoming Human Rights day celebrations, the Nabagereka Development Foundation (NDF) has partnered with Mild-May Uganda in a 16 day activism to sensitize Ugandans against Gender Based Violence (GBV).

Human Rights Day is celebrated annually across the world on 10 December every year. The date was chosen to honor the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption and proclamation, on 10 December 1948.

Addressing the press at Bulange Mengo, NDF Spokesperson Morousha Kanywanyi reveals that they are to mobilize cultural leaders from Buganda Kingdom at both County and village levels to help them in this process.

He says that the campaign is expected to start in the districts of Mityana, Mubende, Sembabule, Gomba and later in Bukomansimbi.

The 2016 Uganda Demographic Health survey showed that 60% of women have experienced violence, while 20% of them aged 15 to 24 years living in Buganda region have experienced sexual violence.
