The National Chairperson of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has underscored the importance of the four principles on which the party is implementing its manifesto in Uganda.

The 4 NRM principles are Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Social Economic Transformation and Democracy.

In his address to the Party Chairpersons and top leaders at Kyadondo plot 10 in Kampala Museveni said these are the foundation to Uganda’s prosperity and once the regional chairpersons understand these principles mobilization for support and new members intending to join NRM will be a walkover.

He disclosed this while launching the registration of NRM members in the party register that is expected to kick off on 13th-17th March indicating that once cadre masters the NRM party principles it’s easy to convince new members to join them.

Museveni warned NRM registrars against last minute registration of new members into the party since this might distort all the process as opposition members might infiltrate the register.

He also warned them against engaging in fraud since this might lead them to prison for a period of seven years.

The NRM First Vice Chairpersons, Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo appealed to members to exercise the highest degree of discipline, avoid being bribed and ensure transparency during the registration exercise.

The Secretary General of the party, Richard Todwong appealed to the chairman to spare time and meet the party chairpersons to address pertinent issues affecting the society among others increased cases of land grabbing, corruption and indiscipline among public servants.

According to the Technical officer from the NRM Electoral Commission Kenneth Otto, they discovered that the party’s old registers which indicated over 17million cadres were exaggerated with members they thought had infiltrated them.

Other registers were duplicated leaving the party with only 11.4million genuine members who will be verified from the start of the exercise process.
