Following the promotion of the former Commander of Land Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Maracha County Member of Parliament Denis Lee Oguzu has called for the revisit in the Uganda People Defense Force -UPDF act to ascertain the criteria of promotions in the army.
On Tuesday, the Commander in Chief of the Armed forces Yoweri Museveni reshuffled and promoted Muhoozi from Lieutenant General to a full four star General and also replaced him with the Commandant of Operation Shuuja in the Democratic Republic of Congo, now Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga as commander Land forces having been promoted from the rank Major General.
Oguzu says the swift promotion of Gen Muhoozi leaves many questions in both the public and the serving soldiers, especially those who have served longer in the army without promotions.
However, other MPs like the Rwampala East County representative Julius Tusiime and Ruhinda County’s Rt. Maj. Donozio Kahonda supported the promotions saying the two army officers have worked tersely to protect the interests of Uganda and the peace of Ugandans.
