The Buganda road chief magistrate’s court has granted bail to Yorke Alioni Odria a Member of Parliament representing Aringa South constituency in Yumbe district who was charged on two counts today.

 

Grade One Magistrate Seina Owomugisha who presided over the case of two counts against Alioni, that is causing grievous bodily harm and assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duties has been granted a cash bail of 1 million shillings and each of his surieties have been bonded at 10 million shillings non cash.

 

The granting of bail followed the denial of charges by Odria who is waiting for his wedding scheduled for this weekend.

 

Court has also set  November 2022 as the hearing date for the same matter after the state led by Joan Keko revealed that the investigations in the matter were concluded.

 

Prosecution alleges that Odria on the 29th September 2022 at the main building of Parliament of Uganda in Kampala central unlawfully caused grievous bodily harm to assistant superintendent of police Alex Senge.

 

It further alleges that on the same date and place Odria assaulted a police officer who was exercising his duties.

 

The accused was arrested after causing a commotion during the EALA elections that were held on September 29th, 2022.
