Members of Parliament- MPs have advised the Ministry of Education and Sports to rather set up a revolving fund for private schools than issuing directives to either increase or not to increase fees when schools reopen next year.

Last week the ministry gave a directive to the above effect as schools are set to reopen in three weeks time from now on January 10th 2022.

However, speaking to Kyamuswa County MP Moses Kabuusu said that it would be unrealistic and wood wicking Ugandans that private school owners will obey the directive when most of them are trapped in huge bank loans and interests yet the little they had collected and saved was used in maintaining school structures and other facilities.

He suggests that MoE&S should rather set a fund for private schools to borrow at lower interest rates and pay gradually as schools recover from covid-19 effects.

He has also blamed the Education and Sports Minister Janet Museveni for being selfish and issuing such a directive without engaging parliament on how schools should be reopened without oppressing parents.
