The Centenary Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with Buganda Land Board- BLB to enable smooth and continuous processing of land titles among bank customers.

According to the MOU, BLB will conduct surveys and later issue titles after receiving recommendation forms from the bank for the customer in need of the land.

Speaking at the signing of the MOU, Fabian Kasi the Managing Director Centenary Bank recognized the milestone reached on between them and Buganda Land Board in efforts of simplifying the life of their customers who are seeking to acquire land titles.

Kasi adds that the Bank was approached by Buganda Land Board in 2010 to provide financial support under the Lease Access Financing Initiative (LAFI) to their clients who are tenants on Kabaka’s Land to meet the costs of the Land title processing.

According to Kasi, the LAFI scheme has been a success with more than 550 Land Titles processed which has pushed the Bank to sign another MoU with Buganda Land Board to scale up the program through the Cente Land Loan product that will cover all the clients in the Central Region even beyond Kabaka’s Land.

He however disclosed that Cente Land loan product is now available in all Centenary Bank branches in Uganda and they have also hired more than 10 surveyors to handle this program.

On behalf of the BLB, the Board’s Chief Executive Officer Simon Kabogoza appreciated Centenary bank for the vote of confidence in the organization’s capacity to handle all land-related matters.

Kabogoza says this MoU serves to strengthen the longstanding relationship they have with Centenary Bank under the Lease Access Financing Initiative launched in 2016 by the late governor Bank of Uganda Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile where people on Kabaka’s land acquire land titles not by paying but through affordable installments.
