As schools prepare to open for term three, the Buyaga West County Member of Parliament-MP Barnabas Tinkasimire has suggested to the government to extend relief funds to private schools to control exorbitant fees.

This comes after the State Minister of Education John Chrysostom Muyingo recently admitted before MPs that they have no powers to fix fees because they are set by the board of governors of schools.

However, Tinkasimire wonders how schools will survive without increasing the fees in this economic hardship and the post effects of the two years of Covid19 lockdown.

It’s from this that Tinkasimire urges the government to either extend grants to private schools or engage financial institutions to extend free interest loans.

Meanwhile, the Traffic Police Spokesperson Faridah Nampiima while briefing the press at the Police headquarters Naguru, has urged parents not to use bodaboda motorcycles as a way of transporting children back as they are reporting to school beginning Monday 5th September, because it’s a risk.
