Paul Owor,   a former parliamentary candidate for Busiro South, has been arraigned before the High court judge Isaac Muwata over charges of fraud, impersonation, and land malpractice.

Owor was charged and remanded to Luzira Prison by the Entebbe Chief Magistrates court in December 2023 on the same charges.

In February this year, he filed his bail application which was denied due to lack of substantial sureties and he later transferred his file to High court.

On Monday, Owor and his legal team appeared at High court and filed a fresh bail application seeking for his release and starting his trial out of the prison.

They have presented three sureties before Judge Isaac Muwata who has set 21 March 2024 to give ruling on their bail application.

Owor is accused of selling a plot of land to an individual shortly after conducting a similar transaction with another person. Both parties allegedly received fake land titles from Owor, suggesting a pattern of deceit and fraudulent activity.

Owor’s legal troubles stem from allegations of impersonation, obtaining money by false pretense, and malpractice in selling the same plots of land to multiple unsuspecting buyers.

The arrest occurred last December following a police complaint filed by one of the purported victims, Loyce Nahwera.
