More new road barriers, checkpoints established on highways

The Traffic and Road Safety Police has established new road barriers and checkpoints along all major roads in the country to enhance traffic operations ahead of the festive season.

Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic Police Spokesperson says that they have increased their visibility along major roads following an increase in the road carnages in the country.

Nampiima noted that they are going to be tough during the enforcement of traffic operations during this festive season and warned people against misbehaving while on the road

This came after President Museveni made a U-turn on the removal of roadblocks on all roads in the country hardly two months after he ordered that they be removed.

Meanwhile, Nampiima has noted that they have arrested over 21000 traffic offenders during the traffic road operations conducted from 1^st to 19^th December, 2022.

She also noted that they have registered over 700 road accidents in the past two weeks which claimed the lives of over 150 people.
