The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has ended his two day official visit in Uganda with a credit to the government for spearheading democracy, equality and economic growth.

 

In a special address to parliament today, Modi said the three points are depicted from the foresighted leadership of President Museveni, the constitution of Parliament with high numbers of women and youth that are pillars to modern systems of transformation.

 

He said like the rest of African, Uganda must overcome the colonial challenges that blocked its progress by utilizing the available opportunities through support to education, infrastructural growth, agriculture and electricity to develop the country.

 

To the rest of Africa, Modi highlighted 10 salient points that India looks at in helping to transform the continent that among others include; cooperation, respecting Africa’s interests and abilities, climate change, credit financing, security and promotion of democratic order on top of opening 18 embassies on the continent.

 

His host President Museveni appreciated Modi for his generosity in three areas; the promised resource center in memorial of Mahatma Gandhi in Jinja, provision of funds for machinery and training of human resource.

 

The two leaders in the morning first addressed a business forum at Serena hotel where Modi emphasized innovation, skills development and training in respect to the local resources to build Uganda.

 

Modi who arrived in the country on Tuesday July 24, engaged in a private meeting with President Museveni where he pledged UDS 200 million approximately UGX 750 billion to support energy and agriculture in terms of equipment. Later in the evening he meet Indian nationals at Kololo air strip and on Wednesday morning before his address to parliament met the business community where he called for a more united front to tap from the modern technology to develop the country.
