The deputy Secretary General of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, Rosemary Namayanja has warned ministers to desist from interfering in the countrywide registration exercise of party members.

The exercise which was launched by the Party Chairperson, Yoweri Museveni on February 28th kicked off on March 13th and will run until Sunday March 17th as the NRM party will be registering, updating and renewing membership cards for all NRM members ahead of the 2026 general election.

The exercise is expected to take place at 72,000 villages across the country and all the registration kits have already been deployed in these villages.

Speaking to the press at the party headquarters in Kampala, Namayanja warned ministers to avoid using their positions to interfere with the process because they want it to be transparent in order to generate a clean register of all party members.

She has however noted that ministers are only allowed to engage in the exercise only where they are the District Party Chairpersons or where they are members of the Party Executive Committee of the district.
