Minister orders Entebbe road taxis to vacate Old Taxi Park

The Ministry of Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs has directed with immediate effect all Entebbe route plying taxis to vacate the Old Taxi Park and return to USAFI and Kisenyi Taxi Parks.

The Minister for Kampala, Hajat Minsa Kabanda while addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center said that the proposed intervention is intended to decongest the city, restore order and streamline operations of public transport within the Central Business District.

Minister adds that they are going to work with Police, the Ministry of Works and Transport, and taxi leadership to make sure that all taxis working in illegal stages along Entebbe Road enter USAFI or Kisenyi parks.

Meanwhile, taxi leaders have urged KCCA to make sure that even bus operators such as Tondeka, and Pioneer among others who work along Entebbe Road also enter the parks.

The Chairperson of Kisenyi Taxi Park, Aloysius Ddamulira has called for cooperation between security and taxi leadership if the orders are to be effected.

Taxis that use this road had shifted operations from USAFI Taxi Park to Old Taxi Park.
