The Inspectorate of Government has Wednesday charged the Karamoja Affairs Minister Marry Goretti Kitutu for causing a financial loss of 1.5 billion Shillings to the government of Uganda.

The minister is being charged with other officials including Geoffrey Sseremba, the Accounting officer, Deogratius Masagazi, the Under Secretary and Tracy Atuhirwe, the Accountant all from the office of the Prime Minister.

This follows the amendment of charges by the Inspectorate of Government against seven OPM Officers, dropping five of them and maintaining two including Sseremba and Masagazi.

The amendment charge sheet has included minister Kitutu and the head of Accounts at OPM Tracy Atuhirwe.

The Anti-Corruption Court has today issued the criminal summons to minister Kitutu and Atuhirwe to appear on 29th of February 2024.

Sseremba and Masagazi who were in court have been charged afresh with corruption but denied the charges.
