The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested for 6 billion shillings to conduct post-Non Aligned Movement-NAM and G77 summit activities.

Of this money, 4 billion Shillings will go to activities attached to NAM and 2 billion Shs to G77 plus China activities.

Some of the activities include; business engagements, diplomacy, research, participation in international summits among others.

This is contained in the budget framework paper presented to Parliament’s Budget Committee chaired by its Vice Chairperson Achia Remigio, the Pian County MP by the Vice-Chairperson of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, Fred Opolot, the Pingire County MP.

The Chairperson of the 19th Non Aligned Movement-NAM President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will officially open the NAM Heads of State Summit on Thursday 18th 2023 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

 

Yesterday 15th of January, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Gen. Jeje Odongo opened the summit and Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Nations Adonia Ayebare was appointed as the chair of the session.

 

Speaking to the press at the Uganda Media Centre, the Head of Public Diplomacy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Sam Omara noted that all heads of states will be in the country by Thursday. Delegates are still arriving and those who have already come for the summit are holding closed engagements.
