Media should sensitize road users to reduce road carnage– Bishop Zziwa

The Bishop Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference Rt. Rev. Joseph Antony Zziwa has appealed to the media to take up the responsibility of educating Ugandans on the best road usage.

Bishop Zziwa says many drivers on the road got their driving permits through back door which is believed to be the cause of road accidents, emphasizing the renewed commitment to fully exercise drivers before they go on the road.

He said this as Priests, religious and Hundreds of Christians filled Mityana Cathedral to pay their last respect and bid farewell to the late Fr. Lawrence Yawe Mudduse who has been the Parish Priest of Lwebisiriza Parish in Kyankwanzi.

In the funeral mass led by Bishop Zziwa the ordinary of Kiyinda Mityana diocese first consoled the entire diocese and the family represented by the late’s mother Maria Christine Nanono Yawe for the untimely loss of Fr. Mudduse.

Bishop Zziwa has described the late Fr. Mudduse as a priest who has lived his full life a priest, ready and committed to serve. He has been a formatter who has natured many priests and seminarians at St. Paul’s major seminary Kinyamasika and served in at least three parishes since his ordination in 2000. He also doubled at the Diocesan communications office and as a writer.

He will be remembered for his contribution and planning in his daily work as a priest and any human being which Christians and Ugandans must emulate.

Fr. Mudduse died on Monday morning 27^th November 2023 following a fatal accident at a place called Wattuba and Kyenda along Mityana Hoima road when a taxi collided head-on with his car on his way back to Lwebisiriza Parish after the Kiyinda Mityana diocesan day celebrations.

He was rushed to St. Peter’s Hospital Kiboga for first aid from where they referred him to Nsambya hospital but died on the way.

Fr. Mudduse died at 52 years of age, he was ordained a priest in 2000, served in Mubende Parish, St. Paul’s major seminary Kinyamasika as lecturer and later posted to Buyambi parish from where he was transferred to Lwebisiriza in Kyankwazi barely two months ago.
