The Uganda Martyrs Hospital Lubaga has received an international laboratory accreditation from the South African National Accreditation System-SANAS to conduct medical tests at global level.
The facility accreditation number is AHPC/19/1606/P which provides that all conditions and requirements are compiled with.
Dr. Julius Luyimbaazi, the Executive Director of Lubaga Hospital says that they were accredited to provide up to 34 tests in five different categories on international level.
He says that the facility conduct over 490,000 tests per year with other tests been refered to other hospitals but with the accreditation, they will be able to carry out all the tests.
Dr. Suzan Nabadda, the Commissioner National Health Laboratory Services and also the Head of Laboratories Department in the Ministry of Health says this is a milestone of Lubaga Hospital being part of the 53 accredited laboratories both private not for profit and public.
She says that they intend to have at least 186 laboratories accredited by 2030 to ensure that Ugandans get quality test results that could guide clinicians provide correct treatment to patients.
