A Link Bus Driver identified as Andrew Jemba who was captured on video texting on WhatsApp while driving passengers along his usual route chart Kampala- Fort Portal highway has been arraigned before LDC court at Makerere.
On Wednesday this week Andrew Jemba, 43, was accordingly intercepted and arrested at Kyegegwa Police.
Today, Jemba appeared before Magistrate Martin Kilya and was charged with misuse of a mobile phone while driving which he denied.
He immediately asked to be released on bail which court accepted with a cash of Shs 500,000 Shillings and ordered to report back to court on 22rd of December 2023.
A police statement confirmed that Jemba who was driving a Link Bus registration number UBG 188P has been charged under Regulation 3(a) & 4 of Traffic and Road Safety (Restriction of Use of Mobile Telephone) .
