Hundreds of cargo trucks are still stranded at the Mombasa Port of Kenya over the anticipated election aftermath of violence in the court.

Local media have reported that there are pockets of violence in Kisumu and Eldoret and other areas of Nairobi which have affected the movements of cargo trucks.

According to Thaddeus Musoke, the Chairperson of the Kampala City Traders Association- KACITA, there is a likelihood of looming price hikes in Uganda caused by the long queues of trucks at the ports.

Musoke adds that over 4,000 trucks are stuck at Mombasa due to safety concerns among the truck drivers.

He also reveals that the country is likely to witness price hikes of some commodities due to limited supply until the truckers and the business people are assured of their safety and that of their goods.

Yesterday, the National Security Advisory Committee of Kenya urged Kenyans to resume their daily activities as the Government continues to ensure the entirety of the country is safe and secure.
