Leaders in Kampala City are not content with the methodology used in choosing roads to be upgraded and reconstructed in the city.

These that include; Members of Parliament, Division Mayors, Speakers and Councillors disclosed this during a stakeholders meeting at the invitation of the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago at City Hall on how they can equally share the 300 billion shillings for roads construction across the five divisions of Kampala.

According to Lukwago, the Shs300 billion is the amount saved on the over 1 trillion shillings that was provided by the African Development Bank to the Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA to construct roads in Kampala.

According to the document presented to the leaders, Central Division is allocated 10km of roads to be worked on, Kawempe Division is allocated 15km, Makindye Division 21km, Rubaga Division 10km and Nakawa Division 20km, which left some of the leaders dissatisfied.

Some leaders that include; the Nakawa Division Speaker Godfrey Luyombya and Ismail Nsubuga a Councilor from Kawempe division threatened to drag the Authority to court since they were not engaged as leaders before coming out with these allocations of the roads tabled to be worked upon in the various divisions.

They also showed dissatisfaction towards the technical wing at KCCA for just sitting in their offices and coming out with plans to work on roads that are not crucial to them as leaders and their electorates.

However, the Chairperson of the Kampala City Roads Committee, Eng. Ronald Balimwezo revealed that the technical wing followed the methodology of connectivity to other roads in choosing the roads to be worked on in this arrangement.

In the same way, Eng. Andrew Mukiibi Sserunjogi who represented the KCCA Executive Director noted that they prioritized the issue of reducing redundant and uncommitted funds, after the project completion among other issues in coming up with this work plan.
