In a bid to reduce on the back log of cases, the Kampala Capital City Authority has instituted local council courts to resolve some minor cases within the divisions of Kampala.

Local Council Courts are linked to the formal system through a system of appeals from the village court through to the Magistrates courts.

Starting with Kampala Central division, the local council executives have elected Nasur Abdala as the chairperson of the local council court for central division which is commencing work with immediate effect.

The decisions of the village executive committee court (LC I) can be appealed to the parish executive committee court (LC II).

However, the Chairman Elect Abdala says they will work with discipline and fairness to ensure that cases like land, neighborhood conflict, domestic cases and minor land cases like boundaries are handled amicably.
