The Minister for Kampala Hajjati Minsa Kabanda has directed town clerks to carry out house to house inspection with effect from 1st December 2023 to ensure compliance of various guidelines ahead of the 19th Non Aligned Movement and Group of 77 plus China summit early next year.
She disclosed this at the Uganda media centre and directed all division town clerks to ensure that all illegal structures ,kiosk, advertising tools ,business signs ,shop extensions are removed ,ensure installation of lighting on the building frontages and trading spaces, renovation of unsightly buildings, painting and adherence to building regulations ,removal of illegal taxi stages and boda boda stages among others .
She also directed all property owners, city operators and public to ensure that they comply with the guidelines before 20th December to avoid penalties.
Minister Kabanda also called upon residents of Kampala to improve their residences and trading spaces by cleaning utter areas, avoid littering among others thus calling upon the public to come together as they organise the city not just for the summits but the overall development of capital city.
