The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Councilors have proposed that Wampewo Avenue be renamed BMK Avenue in memory of the fallen business man Hajji Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige commonly known as BMK.

The late businessman BMK passed on last week from cancer related complications he suffered for a long time and was buried at Nkowe in Wakiso district on Sunday.

Speaking to the Workers representatives at KCCA, Bismark Ssempijja noted that some of the reasons for suggesting this road are because it’s where his businesses are located.

Councilors have also appealed to parliament to pass a resolution to start up a foundation in his memory because he has spearheaded the fight against sickle cells.

Councilors have also proposed to rename the road that stretches from Munaku to Nakibinge road in Namugoona Rubaga division into Archbishop Yonah Lwanga who has been the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Orthodox Church in Uganda. He passed on last week in Athens Greece still from cancer related complications.

Councilor Ssempijja noted that the late constructed health facilities and also gave part of the church land to KCCA to construct part of that road, and naming him after a road would be the reward in memory of his contribution to the country.
