Kassanda district is now registering the most number of Ebola cases compared to Mubende which had the first case and death according to the Minister for Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng.

The Minister who is Kassanda monitoring the situation has attributed this to the frequent movement of people from one village to another in the district which is not happening in Mubende.

She says that most of the affected category of people is the youth who have refused to listen to what the health workers and the risk task force teams are telling them.

Dr. Aceng says that the district of Kassanda still needs a lot of risk communication for people to understand that they shouldn’t run away when they get infected but to report to the health facilities to have treatment and avoid spreading the disease.

The Minister further cautions parents against stopping children from attending schools saying that they should be allowed to complete this term but only avoid sending to school those who fall sick instead report them to the authorities for quick response.

Dr Aceng however applauds the 6th national taskforce and teams on the ground in Kassanda district for the tremendous work and also hail the people of Mubende for complying with the measures issued and being proactive in the fight of containing Ebola.

To date, at least 130 are cumulative confirmed cases out of which 43 succumbed to Ebola and 52 undergoing treatment and 45 are recoveries.
