Security agencies are worried over the poor vigilance response exhibited especially in Kampala by people said to have stubbornly refused to put in place terrorism precaution measures despite the existing terror threats in the country.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that majority of the people in Kampala especially business owners have remained reluctant because there is no any terror incident that has occurred yet within Kampala.

Last week, Army and police chiefs led by Brig. William Bainomugisha, the Commander of Military Police, and Stephen Tanui, the commander of Kampala Metropolitan Police inspected parts of downtown Kampala to assess the vigilance of those in public spaces after a terror warning issued by the United Kingdom.

The inspections have been daily since then with police canine units scouring Kikuubo and other populated areas in the Central Business District.

Enanga now says that the majority of business owners especially bar owners, Hotels, arcades among others have become unbothered about the existing terror threats and instead focused on making money.

Fred Enanga noted that they directed police commanders with Kampala Metropolitan policing Area to write down all businesses and arcades that have failed to set up measures to fight terrorism which they will be exposed to publicly.
