The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development Ruth Nankabirwa has noted that sustainable growth and development for Africa is hinged on generation and utilization of affordable energy for value addition and industrial development.

While opening the 3 Day fourth international conference and exhibition on water storage and hydro power development for Africa at speak resort hotel in Munyonyo said energy is required to allow the current and future generations meet their energy needs.

The minister noted that Uganda’s vision 2040 aims at having access to clean, affordable and reliable energy of at least 41,738MW to facilitate industrialization, employment and foreign exchange inflows.

Nankabirwa has told the delegates that the main objective of the conference is to bring together experts from all parts of the world to focus on issues related to water conservation and hydropower development.
