The Speaker of parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has released a tight schedule streamlining the procedures of handing the next financial year budget by different parliamentary committees.

In her communication to parliament on Wednesday afternoon, Kadaga informed Members of Parliament that in a bid to prepare for the transition of the 10th to11th parliament, committees will have to follow the new schedule which requires them to process and pass the budget within a month.

Kadaga says that the Minister of Finance on behalf of the president will be expected to lay the national budget in parliament by 1st April to enable parliament’s committee on finance start processing the revenue bills which will be passed by parliament by14th of next month.

Kadaga says that then sectoral committees will be required to lay their reports on the policy statements by 20th April and where necessary these reports will directly be taken to the budget committee.

Kadaga says that from here the budget committee will report back to parliament with its report on 25th April and they expect to pass the budget by the 29th of April.
