Traders under the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) have tasked government to ask America to reverse its decision of canceling Uganda out of African Growth and Opportunity Act beneficiaries (AGOA) Market.

 

Last week, US President Joe Biden said he was cutting Uganda, Central African Republic, Gabon, and Niger from the AGOA beneficiaries from January 2024 and president Museveni replied this week that Ugandans should not to be over-concerned by Washington’s decision to remove the country off its list of AGOA

 

While addressing journalists during the launch of 3rd edition of KACITA Quality Awards which will be held on 24th /November/2023  in Kampala aiming to award KACITA patterns that has help it to stand in good and difficult times.

 

Thadious Musoke the Chairman KACITA said that AGOA uganda has to enough Market for it’s products and the example was when Rwanda Board was closed, When Kenya refused Uganda milk among others so closing AGOA is dangerous.

 

Musoke adds that government should not at anytime hesitate but get means of taking Uganda into AGOA Market because it’s is very important when you see the  2022 Uganda exports  goods worth USD 10.6 million under the programme.

 

Meanwhile on the same presser KACITA has launch the KACITA Quality Awards which will be give to personal that has indeed help KACITA to thrive and they think will help their cooperation with the Association to strengthen.
