President Yoweri Museveni vows to deal with people mismanaging the Parish Development Model- PDM and other government funds aimed at transforming Ugandans from poverty.
Museveni made the remarks while engaging with the media at state lodge Nakasero in Kampala on Friday.
Museveni revealed that he is aware that there are some people misusing government programs’ funds but this time the government is committed to dealing with each of them and he is ready to personally visit some parishes to assess the viability of the PDM money.
He has however advised the beneficiaries of the PDC Money never to use it for night clubbing, marrying women among other unproductive activities but rather to invest it in intensive agriculture and other profitable ventures.
Government has so far disbursed 151.75 billion shillings to at least 6,070 savings and credit cooperative societies SACCOS to kick start the implementation of the PDM program.
At the same press conference, Museveni said the shutting down of the social platform in Uganda “Facebook” two years now was due to misuse where many used to attack, abuse and character assassinate others but are thinking of having it re-opened.
