The International Crimes Division of the High Court sitting at Kololo has not proceeded with the hearing of the case in which the Kawempe North Member of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya and Makindye West’s Allan Ssewanyana are accused of murder and terrorism.

The matter had to resume on Tuesday but failed due to the absence of the trial Judge, Justice Alice Komuhangi and the accused persons.

The new date for the hearing will be communicated.

The MPs are accused of terrorism, murder, and attempted murder in connection with the wave of machete killings that occurred in the greater Masaka district two years ago, claiming over 20 lives and injuring numerous others.

They are charged alongside Jackson Kanyike, John Mugerwa, Bull Wamala, and Mike Sserwadda.

The Kawempe North Member of Parliament, Muhammad Ssegirinya, who is hospitalized at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi for three months, is reported to have regained consciousness.

Ssegirinya’s Personal Assistant, Alex Luwemba, who recently returned from the hospital, says that his boss can now speak, eat, walk, and recognize visitors, a significant improvement from his condition when he was admitted on December 23rd, 2023.

However, Ssegirinya continues to battle multiple organ complications and requires prayers for a complete recovery.
