The opposition Democratic Party (DP) has condemned the Government for turning a deaf ear to climate change issues which has resulted into problems for the whole country.

This comes at a time when temperatures in Uganda have shot up above the normal ranges and may soon cause health problems to many Ugandans.

The acting DP Spokesperson Ismail Kiirya told the media during their weekly party press conference that the current temperature situation in the country is new to everyone but it’s upon the Government to advise the population on how to navigate the tough conditions.

Meanwhile, Kiirya who doubles as the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) President says they are running to court to challenge Makerere University Management’s decision to prohibit partisan politics in students’ leadership, citing concerns that political affiliations sow discord among the student body.

Kiirya says UYD has already contacted their party lawyers and within two weeks time, the matter will be in court to challenge what he termed as the university’s impunity of denying students their right of political affiliation.
