Francis Isiko, the head teacher of Magoma Orthodox Primary School in Kikamulo Sub-County, Nakaseke District, has been asked to refund over shillings 4 million meant for Universal Primary Education (UPE).

Following the poor performance in last year’s Primary Leaving Exams (P.L.E) in Kikamulo Sub-County, the Chairman LC 3 along with his Executive Committee resolved to conduct a special inspection of the 9 schools in their supervision.

This was also backed by Ignatius Koomu Kiwanuka, head of the Nakaseke District LC V.

The school which had 14 candidates never received any first grade, got only two second grade and four third grades and 8 got fourth grade.

This was determinant enough to conclude on the poor performance.

During the inspection, they discovered severe irregularities including misappropriation of the funds.

As a result, the Kikamulo Sub-County Executive Committee met and decided to ask the head teacher of Magoma Orthodox Primary School to refund the money.

In a letter dated March 12, 2024, issued to the Nakaseke District Chairman via the Kikamulo Sub-County LC 3 chairperson, the head teacher agreed to bank the funds no later than Monday 18th March 2024.

A copy of his commitment has been copied to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and District Education Officer (DEO).
