The Government of Uganda is to streamline refugee aid which is brought into the country through non government organizations.

This revelation was made by the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Eng. Hillary Onek during the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework Steering Group meeting in Kampala.

He says that many NGOs receive funds from donors with the aim of helping refugees but they end up not fulfilling this promise and end up using the funds to live luxurious lives at the expense of the suffering refugees.

He adds that they are to engage the Ministry of Internal Affairs to see that this issue is addressed.

Onek also disclosed that they are now struggling to feed refugees since their numbers have increased to 1.6 million across the country.

He adds that as they gear up for the second  Global Refugee Forum that is expected in December 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland, all these issues will be raised and forge a way forward since many countries are still facing challenges of instability which keeps the refugees in fear of returning to their motherland.
