Government has assured the country that come 2025 Uganda will start extracting its oil and gas without fail.

While giving the progress of the oil and gas sector, Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development told journalists in Kampala that so far the sector has started feeding the economy saying over USD 8.5 billion has been added to the country’s GDP and 12,000 jobs created.

Nankabirwa adds that over 98% land has been acquired and owners fully compensated saying the 2% will soon be sorted out because as of now the owners are not traceable but Government will deposit their money in court such that the project moves on well.

She says that after the first oil comes out of ground, there is hope that oil prices wil be steadied and security of fuel in Uganda will be guaranteed.

Nankabirwa adds that they have put mobile labs all over the country to curb people intending to adulterate fuel at fuel stations.
