Government has confirmed failing to establish the constitutional review commission due to the lack of funds.

This has been revealed by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Norbert Mao after the speaker of parliament Anita Among task government to respond to the matter of when the constitutional review commission will be setup to consider the constitution amendments.

A week ago government had tabled piecemeal constitution amendments which parliament rejected demanding for an overall constitution amendments.

Mao further informed parliament due to financial constraints they are now considering using the Uganda law reform commission to take up the responsibilities of the constitutional review commission and soon after cabinet approval the new constitution amendment proposals will be tabled in parliament.
