Government has allocated Shs405 million for the International Women’s day celebrations in the next financial year.

This has been revealed by the Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development Betty Amongi while presiding over the launch of the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association 2022-2026 strategic plan where she noted that each district will receive 3 million.

Over the years, female MPs have always labored and worked hard to ensure that Women’s day celebrations are held in every district once funds are available to attract women participation in their day and national activities.

Minister Amongi noted that this money will be sent to district boards and the women MPs will carry the supervisory role for effective use of the funds.

However, the Mubende Woman MP Hope Grania Nakazibwe differed from the proposal of the minister and rather proposed that the money be sent directly to female MPs rather than district boards.
