Police have refuted allegations surrounding an image circulated over the weekend on social media indicating the Retired Lieutenant General Henry Tumukunde handcuffed, saying that the act happened on the day of arrest.

On the photo, Tumukunde is seen in a jumper and a pair of kaki trouser handcuffed and seated while crosses his legs on a chair in what is believed to be his home.

Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson says that Tumukunde was handcuffed after turning violent and aggressive against officers who had gone for his arrest and house search on Thursday and Friday respectively last week.

He says that since then, Tumukunde hasn’t been handcuffed centrally to the allegations that he is been violated and mistreated, though on Sunday police failed to carry out a search in his home after falling sick and admitted at Kololo hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Enanga opposes allegations of having arrested one of Tumukunde’s sons saying no son is under arrest but 13 people were arrested from the General’s home after attempting to obstruct police operations at Kololo last week.
