Police have confirmed suffocation as the cause of death for their officer Miriam Sadia Abako and her one year old daughter.

The Police Constable Abako, attached to the Mechanical Police Department together with her one year old baby identified as Rahma Nabirye reportedly died in a house yesterday at Kibuli barracks after leaving a charcoal stove burning within their room.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says preliminary investigations indicate that suffocation was due to the poisonous smoke from a burning charcoal which they left in the house.

He further says that in the house, there were other occupants but they were hardly affected and are recovering after receiving medical treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Fred Enanga cautioned the people against leaving burning materials in their rooms especially during the rainy seasons because it may cause suffocation in the house.
