The family of Julius Chelimo, the former Bukwo LC V Chairperson is accusing Luzira prison authorities where he is on remand of denying them access.

His brother, Kenedy Kwemoi says that the prison authorities have denied them access to Chelimo despite getting clearance from the Commissioner General of Uganda Prison Services, Johnson Byabashaija to visit him.

Chelimo’s relative Moses Kiprop, says that his arrest is politically motivated.

When Chelimo started talking of contesting for a member of parliament on the NRM ticket in Kongosis constituency that is when the trouble started and now those in power are using security to kill his political career.

The Uganda Prisons Spokesperson, Frank Baine, says that only Chelimo’s lawyers can access him because of the ban on prison visits due to the Ebola outbreak.

Chelimo is battling charges of aggravated defilement and trafficking in persons for his involvement with a 16-year-old student. He is expected to return to the court on Thursday, November 24th, 2022 for the mention of his case.
