EMERGENCY Children’s Surgical Hospital conducts free 1,000 surgeries on children in one year

The Ministry of Health has applauded the achievement by the EMERGENCY’s Children’s Surgical Hospital in Entebbe for conducting surgeries to over 1,000 children within one year of its operation.

Children’s Surgical Hospital was commissioned by President Museveni last year to conduct clinical activities with a dream of creating a center of reference for pediatric surgery open to children and young people below the age of 18 years suffering from congenital malformations, urological and gynaecological issues among other diseases from across the African continent.

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister for Health while opening the ” Building  Medicine of Excellence in Africa  Conference hosted by EMERGENCY, says that they have a belief that the Children’s Surgical Hospital will play a big part in Uganda in offering services to improve pediatric surgery given the shortage of specialist staff and facilities.

Rossella Miccio, the President of EMERGENCY explains the history of this hospital saying it is the second facility in the African Network of Medical Excellence -ANME program that is running in 11 African Countries after the EMERGENCY’s Salam Centre for cardiac surgery that was built in Khartoum, Sudan in 2007.
