The Bishop Chairman of the Catholic Social Communications Commission also Bishop Emeritus of Lira Diocese Rt. Rev. Joseph Franzelli has reminded Catholic Communicators of the call to serve as media practitioners with a purposeful mission of evangelizing the world.

Bishop Franzelli says media personnel are not supposed to take their profession as a mere job to get money but rather play a pivotal role in educating and inspiring communities for better life especially during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Destructive publicity mostly supported and propagated by politicians should not compromise the heart and integrity of a journalist, citing negative publicity that confused the public about Covid Vaccines yet responsible journalists had to respect the greater good for people during the worst times of the pandemic.

He was addressing Catholic Social Communicators who are in their annual general meeting and workshop at Losilang Pastoral Centre in Kotido Diocese emphasizing the need for communication that brings peace, equity and social transformation.

Bishop Franzelli also challenged the Catholic Communicators to be creative, understanding, team players and ready to adapt to the demands of the new normal system brought by the Covid pandemic.

The Bishop together with the Catholic Communicators was taken through the Strategic Planning process as part of the refresher training program to support their work ability and experience.
