Sensitize Uganda, a youth led and focused civil society organization has suggested to the Electoral Commission -EC to improve on the period of uploading the election data online.

This was during the media capacity building in Kampala on an election data and monitoring tool to ease access to electoral data.

Sensitize Uganda, Executive Director Chrispin Mutehimbwa says though EC is ranked 3rd in Africa in terms of electoral transparency but they only need to take like a month in uploading data instead of the three to four months normally spent after elections.

In this media capacity building, Mutehimbwa sensitized journalists on using the Uganda Electoral Data Portal that Sensitize Uganda in support of the International Republican Institute- IRI developed, containing the election data for 2006, 2010, 2016 and 2021.

Mutehimbwa says that this portal will help journalists, researchers and election observers to access election data without hustling.

However, Paul Bukenya, the EC Spokesperson says they have never delayed to publish statutory data and any other election information on their website within the timeline prescribed by the electoral law.
