The Bishop of Namirembe diocese, Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira has underscored the contribution of an Austrian-based Ugandan Consultant cardiologist the Late Dr Aggrey Kiyingi which Ugandans should emulate.

Leading the memorial service at Namirembe Cathedral this afternoon, Bishop Luwalira said Dr. Kiyingi has touched many lives especially through his professional line as an international cardiologist.

He has disclosed that Dr. Kiyingi was a man who spoke his mind, served all and has walked his life to the end be it in social, economic or political developments of Uganda.

Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi died on 30th September 2023 at 68 years of age from Australia of heart failure according to the statement from his wife Mayimuna Nakayiira Kiyingi.

His body delayed to arrive due to negotiations with the government which had labeled him an enemy due to allegations of funding terrorism activities against the state.

His body finally arrived in the country last evening October 29th and this afternoon family members and friends converged for prayers for the deposed soul at Namirembe Cathedral and thereafter the body will be taken to the home of his late father, Azalia Kiyingi Ssebbowa at Busukuma, Namulonge (Wakiso district) for a funeral tomorrow before his burial on Wednesday 1st November 2023.
