The Directorate of the Public Prosecutions has closed it’s registry and documentation centre in Kampala following a registration of one positive case of COVID 19 at it’s headquarters located at Worker’s House Kampala. 

 

According to the Statement issued today by the Director of Public Prosecutions, justice Jane Frances Abodo , some sections of the office including the registers and document center are temporarily closed.

 

She says this is one of the measures being undertaken to come with the requirements of handling the positive case and Isolation of all the immediate contacts.

 

She has further highlighted that in light of this, the Office of the DPP filed staff, stake holders and members of the public are discouraged from visiting the headquarters for a period of two weeks.

 

Abodo also adds that only very urgent files will be received from police during this time when their offices will be closed.

 

The office of the DPP is responsible to institute criminal offenses on the law offenders while upholding, protecting and promoting human and constitutional rights.

 

This comes as the country registers high of infection cases of Covid-19, 201 recorded from 1,989 samples tested bringing the cumulative number to 1,876 with still 46 deaths. Cumulative Covid-19 samples tested to date are 417,897.
