The Democratic Party-DP has advised the public to desist from promoting hate speech if they want a fruitful national dialogue to take place.

The DP President who doubles as the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Norbert Mao during a press conference in Kampala said that once a national dialogue is held in Uganda all the social, economic and political grudges of the different regions in the country will be settled at once.

Mao adds that as DP they have outlined factors which should be discussed on to allow better national dialogue among which include; the youth question, Buganda question, Acholi question, Militarization among others.

He has disclosed through his ministry he can assist Uganda to achieve it since he has the powers to push it but some people still don’t want it to happen.

Meanwhile, Mao says as DP they are to embark on nationwide tours to strengthen their party’s grassroots and listen to the challenges facing its members.

He says they will be traversing 7 areas starting with Mbarara, Masaka, Greater Mubende, Greater Mukono, Northern Uganda and finally Kampala Metropolitan Area.

Mao adds that many DP members have lost trust in the party following the bad words uttered by people fighting the party but they are going to re-mobilize their members to tell them that DP still exists and that they are to contest the Presidency come 2026.

At the same presser, Mao announced that next year on October 6th, 2024, DP will be celebrating 70 years of existence and he has appointed Kennedy Mutenyo to chair the organizing committee for the celebration.
