The Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua has warned the Certified Public Accountants to desist from operating against their rules and regulations.

Obua says since all public Accountants start practicing their profession well knowing their rules and regulations, they are not expected to go against the professional code of conduct and ethics.

This was while opening the 11th Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Economic Forum at Imperial Resort Beach Hotel Entebbe under the theme National priorities for economic development organized by the Institute of Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).

Obua however implored public accountants to stick to their professional ethics and ensure that they are legally reorganized through formal registration authority with their mother associations’ reorganized by government.

The newly elected President of the ICPAU, CPA Josephine Okui Okwakol Ossiya says that there is a need to increase domestic revenue mobilization together with rationalization of public spending if to achieve development goals.

She says that the government needs to continue considering the proposals of ICPAU in widening the tax base.

The 11th CPA Economic Forum is organized to generate debate and policy recommendations that are forwarded to the government to feed into the national budgeting process.
