25th Dec 2021

Christians world over are celebrating Christmas a day commemorated for the birth of Jesus Christ.

The celebration of Christmas on 25th December follows the four weeks of advent in which Christians especially Catholics devout to preparation in and penance to receive the birth of Jesus Christ the saviour of human kind.

In the Christmas Eve Mass that was celebrated quite early around 6pm in Uganda due to the observance of the curfew time instituted by the government as part of the control measure against the spread of Covid-19, a multitude of Christians flooded the churches to pray and thank God who has kept them alive amidst the deadly pandemic.

At St. Peter’s parish Nsambya Kampala Archdiocese Fr. John Bosco Katabazi a lecturer at St. Mbagga Major Seminary Ggaba told the congregation that Emmanuel the provider of peace, comfort, love and solace to the afflicted has come and who ever believes in him gets saved.

He said Ugandans have been challenged over time not only during Covid-19 but in all other areas right from human rights and freedom and giving humanity its true identity as demanded by God. However despite the shortfalls one should not lose hope since true Christianity teaches God’s kingdom than yearning for the earthy things and desires.
